Matthew Pfister Matthew joined the Navy at 19 years old. He was deployed to my home country, Liberia, on a ship that my family and I were on doing the war in Liberia, USS Saipan (LHA-2) The ship got there in early June.
Their job was to track ships and aircraft going by. They were on an ample space about 50 miles off the coast of Liberia, In the middle of August, they evacuated the embassy of Liberia 🇱🇷 and evacuated civilians as needed.
They evacuated about 1600 people from Liberia and flew them on the ship, and most of the people were moved to Freeport in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
I was a little girl and did not know this unique human being was a critical part of my life during the war in Liberia.
Thirty-five years later, I met him at Church.
What a confirmation from God that I am in the right place at the right time.
Matthew, thank you so much for your service!!
