I met Amanda 12 years ago in the dorms at Weber State University. Amanda has been such a critical part of my life. We have laughed, cried, and celebrated wins together!
Years later, her faith in God is inspiring, and the way she combines fitness and God is powerful. Amanda, I am so blessed to know you for so many years, and I am so proud of the woman you are today. You are so beautiful and energetic, and your love for God and fitness brings me to tears! You seriously are a light in my life. Love you so much!

Join us for Episode 4 of BOLD Beginnings The Podcast, season 2, as we welcome Matthew Pfister, who shares his experiences from the Liberian war. Matthew joined the Navy at 19 and served on USS Saipan (LHA-2), which was deployed to Liberia during the war. The ship monitored local ships and aircraft and evacuated the embassy and civilians. Matthew Pfister Matthew joined the Navy at 19 years old. He was deployed to my home country, Liberia, on a ship that my family and I were on doing the war in Liberia, USS Saipan (LHA-2) The ship got there in early June.
Their job was to track ships and aircraft going by. They were on an ample space about 50 miles off the coast of Liberia, In the middle of August, they evacuated the embassy of Liberia 🇱🇷 and evacuated civilians as needed.
They evacuated about 1600 people from Liberia and flew them on the ship, and most of the people were moved to Freeport in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
I was a little girl and did not know this unique human being was a critical part of my life during the war in Liberia.
Thirty-five years later, I met him at Church.
What a confirmation from God that I am in the right place at the right time.
Matthew, thank you so much for your service!!
